Thermal Testing Lab and Capabilities

Minnesota Thermal Science operates a full-service ISTA-certified thermal testing laboratory that state of the art calibrated environmental chambers and data acquisition systems. Our programmable equipment is capable of a wide range of temperatures and humidity control to meet any client requirements. We also can work with you to develop custom testing protocols and shipping profiles. Our protocols and test reports can withstand FDA and other regulatory agency scrutiny. Our lab features:

  • ISTA certification for procedure 5B (Focused Simulation Guide for Thermal Performance Testing of Temperature Controlled Transport Packaging) and procedure 7D (Thermal Controlled Transport Packaging for Parcel Delivery System Shipment).
  • Compliance with ASTM procedure D3103 (Standard Test Method for Thermal Insulation Quality of Packages)
  • NIST traceable calibrations on environmental chambers and data acquisition equipment performed annually (at a minimum) by an outside vendor.
  • Full range of temperature and humidity simulation on our new state of the art programmable environmental chambers.
  • Full range of conditioning equipment including -85° C so-low freezer, standard freezers, refrigerators and room temperature chamber.
  • Comprehensive reports that conform to industry standards.
  • Competent and trained laboratory personnel.
  • Large chamber capacity allows for multiple unit testing and side-by-side comparisons of several different configurations or package types.
